Working from home definitely has its perks. You don't have to commute, the dress code is pajamas, and you can take as many breaks as you want throughout the day. But anyone who's done WFH knows that it comes with its own set of challenges, like blurred boundaries, endless Zoom calls, and everyone constantly assuming that you have tons of free time because you are physically at home.

When I was a freelancer, I worked from home every day. Now, I had my own issues with it because I found it difficult to stay focused in the comfort of my own home. Why work when I could make myself an elaborate meal, watch a couple episodes of my show on Netflix, or randomly start an online knitting course? On top of that, my boyfriend sometimes asked me to take care of some household tasks and chores – mostly just laundry or dishes, but the added items on my to-do list sometimes completely threw me for a loop.

This is sort of what's going on in today's tale, when one man who works remotely found himself taking on unpaid shifts of laundry, dishes, and vacuuming on top of his normal daily labor. When he pushed out, pointing out that WFH is still work, things got tense. His girlfriend accused him of being selfish, while he felt like he was being treated like a live-in housekeeper. She shouldn't frame it as "You need to do more chores because you're home all day," because that really paints him as some sort of guy that is lazing around all day. She should ask him to take on more chores because they are both inredibly busy; they should be functioning as a team with the goal of keeping the home clean and peaceful.
